The internal design is similar to the traditional S&S teardrop air cleaners, in that the back plate forms a radiused inlet, like a mini air horn, and there is a directional "stinger" cone that directs air towards the center of the radiused inlet. The radiused inlet and the directional cone are designed to let air flow smoothly into the carb or throttle body with less turbulence, hence better flow. More flow, more power!
